We opened the meeting with a review of the Rachel's Challenge presentations at the Middle and High Schools. All feedback was exceptionally positive and Mr.
Ragon said that some students have taken it upon themselves to continue a lifestyle of creating a positive chain reaction through kindness to others. As a
continuation of this, the Wellness Council will sponsor a Dale Carnegie Workshop for interested high school seniors in early April for the purpose of developing
their leadership, communications and human relations skills.
The Treasurer's report indicated that we have a balance of $15,775.00.
Friday Night Live will be on March 24th at the Middle School. Barbara Richko has volunteers and supplies. Several of us will make copies of the approved flyer
to distribute to the Middle School and St. Williams. We will have Wellness Council T-shirts available at FNL.
Seaford Beautification: Plans for the gazebo, pictures of the site and the draft prepared by Michael Interrante will be forwarded to Richard Bivone. He will
prepare the documents and submit to the Town for approvals and processing. It was decided that the location suggested by Michael Interrante be the preferred
site of the gazebo. It will be just south of the train station office on the corner nearest the office.
Washington Ave. Park Restoration: We thanked Legislator David Denenberg and Peter Ruffner for their efforts in securing the funds for the restoration. Peter
said that once the process is complete (approximately 90days) the Legislature will be voting on the final distributions. In addition he presented a list of projects
that are to be done in the park.
Re habituate the comfort station - New Landscaping - Re habituate the infields and outfields - New backstops
for both fields - Reconstruct the parking lot - New bleachers and benches - New Children's Playground
We will investigate the possibility of "Adopting" the park.
Harbor PTA Auction: We will participate by providing litter bags with out brochures.
Mr. Ragon discussed the Pre Prom meeting.
World War l Memorial: Sharon Jonas is discussing a spring clean-up and landscaping with the American Legion and an Eagle Scout Troop. We will discuss
with Theresa Maffetone the possibility of including other Seaford troops.
Legislator David Denenberg: We thanked David for his support of the Council and his efforts to secure the funds for the Washington Ave. park restoration. He
offered additional funds to support Friday Night Live, and the Parents Center and Parent University projects. In addition, David provided an insightful discussion
on the local environment and other projects underway which will hopefully address many of these issues.
