The meeting was opened at 7:30pm by Chairman Michael Di Silvio.
Kevin Kimick and his mother, Donna spoke about Kevin's Eagle Scout project. Kevin would like to clean up the War Memorial located by Seaford RR as his
project. He would like to clean up the area, power wash the site, and do some landscaping. He hopes to have it done by Memorial Day. He has gotten in touch
with Angie Cullen who stated the land is under the authority of the highway department. The council offered him suggestions and the links to other organizations
who might be interested in helping him achieve his goal.
Beautification Project
Gazebo - We are waiting for the OK by the Town of Hempstead. We still need to Investigate building Permit, foundation, electrical, and landscaping.
Tackapausha Clean Up- Trail Day Clean up - Scheduled for June 3, 2006. BBQ is being planned.
LIRR - Substation - the substation on the corner of Washington and Sunrise has been exposed. When it was built it was supposed to remain "hidden" with
shrubbery. The shrubbery has died off and a letter was sent by Mrs. Kern on 03/17/06. No reply has been sent thus far. Mr. Ruffner stated that Mr. Denenberg
has a standing transportation committee and he will inquire as to why we have not yet received a reply.
Area near RR Tracks - the area has become a dumping ground for debris, including discarded toilet bowls. Mr. Ruffner said you can not see it from the street,
but you can see it from the train. Mr. Ruffner will contact LIRR to clean it up.
FNL - Mrs. Richko will make an inventory list of needed supplies. The last FNL was a big hit with the addition of a 7th and 8th grade band.
The next FNL will be 06/09/06. It will be the school year finale with the Carnival theme. We always do it up big, and this year will be no exception.
Treasurer's Report - Liz Gaebler Starting-$17,454.61, Additions-$271.37, Subtractions-$3047.08, Not yet cleared-$7.70, Total- $13,908.90
Washington Avenue Park - Peter Ruffner - We are waiting on the Environmental Bond, and looking into Adopt-A-Park, but Nassau County has not ever had that
program before. Public Safety needs to patrol more often. Football teams playing there with out permits are ruining the fields.
Restructure Council - Steve Gaebler - We need to amend the certificate and by laws. We needed an approval of the committee. Peter Ruffner made the motion
to adopt the resolution, certificate and bi-laws amendment. Michael Di Silvio seconded. The paperwork will be sent by Mr. Gaebler to the Attorney General for
review. It will then be sent to the Supreme Court of Nassau County where they will sign off on it and then to the Secretary of State in Albany and the IRS.
Seaford Community Spirit Night - Hoops and Scoops was such a big success, Spirit Night is being formed. It will be just before the budget vote. It will have
activities and fireworks. We were asked to be involved. Mike Di Silvio will get more information.
The meeting ended at 8:53pm
