Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine
High School on April 20, 1999.  Her acts of kindness and
compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries
have become the foundation for one of the most life-
changing school programs in America. It is a powerful
story of inspiration, courage, and kindness.

We encourage all Parents, Students and Staff of the
School Communities of
Seaford and Wantagh to attend this moving event!

The Seaford Wellness Council

We are a section 501c non profit
organization comprised of local citizens
whose mission is to assist in the
improvement of the Seaford community's
quality of life by promoting general
community wellness, including but not
limited to the following: 1) Organizing
activities that promote wellness such as
activity nights for the community children
to attend as an alternative to
non-productive activities, as well as
having Community Walk-Runs and Health
Fairs. 2) Organizing, promoting and
carrying out endeavors which beautify
the community and environment, parks
and other public places of gathering with
the purpose of fostering healthy
interaction, socialization and fellowship
within the Seaford community. 3)
Creating activities and presentations
which address issues of substances
abuse, nutrition, smoking, gender bias,
violence and physical and mental health.

Rachel's Challenge Presentation

The Wellness Council sponsored the
Rachel's Challenge presentation for the
Middle School and High School students
and the community in 2006.  

This well received event was  followed up
with a secondary presentation entitled
"Rachel's Legacy" to the Middle School
students and parents in 2007.
The Seaford Wellness Council
has sponsored numerous
educational events and
presentations for students as
well as other members of the
Seaford community.  

Topics included substance abuse
education, nutrition, and physical
and mental well being.
The Wellness Council is a sponsor of the
CDC Basketball Team.
The Wellness Council regularly sponsors "Red Ribbon
Week" at the Seaford Middle School in an effort to educate
students on the negative effects of tobacco use.
